报告摘要:

Understanding the electronic structure of molecules in the liquid phase is essential but poses experimental challenges. Soft X-ray spectroscopy can help effectively explore the electronic structure of matter. In this talk, I will share a summary of recent efforts at free-electron laser facilities, which have enabled liquid-phase soft X-ray spectroscopy to investigate the electronic structure of biochemical systems. Additionally, I will discuss the latest developments in table-top photon sources, including the first-time resolved measurement of multi-photon-induced dynamics in liquid alcohols using an HHG-based setup. Table-top soft X-ray (SXR) sources have made it possible to conduct time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy (TRXAS) to study structural and electronic dynamics in real-time. By using long-wavelength driving pulses, it has become possible to extend high-order HHG cut-off and XAS measurements into the water-window. This spectral range spans between the carbon and oxygen K absorption edges and opens up the possibility of conducting TRXAS measurements in liquid samples and solutions.

报告人简介


Dr. Zhong Yin is an associate professor in the International Center for Synchrotron Radiation Innovation Smart at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Goettingen (2016).Dr. Yin had postdoc Trainings at the ETH Zurich, during which he accomplished the first transient soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy of chemical system in liquid phase with a table-top HHG source in the water windows regime, etc. From 2021-2022, Dr. Yin was an scientist at European XFEL and lead a project to Chem at hRIXS of liquid samples. His work has made an outstanding contribution to the realization of probing the electronic structure in liquid-phase molecules.
